According to the recent research by Pitchbook, from January to September of this year, venture investors funded $83.7 billion in startups in the fields of artificial intelligence and machine learning (AI & ML), which is 43.5% and 94% more than in all of 2020 and 2019, respectively.
The median valuation growth between rounds of AI startups reached 120%, while during the last four years, it varied between 60% and 80%. The volume of venture exits during IPOs and acquisitions amounted to $166.2 billion — against $51.5 billion in 2020 and $96.9 billion in 2019.
Scale AI is one of the largest AI startups in the United States: in two years the company’s valuation has grown from $1 billion up to $7 billion. Well-known venture funds are backing the startup: Y Combinator, Tiger Global, Spark Capital, Index Ventures, Accel.
