The Israeli company StoreDot, which develops batteries for charging electric vehicles in 5 minutes, has applied for a patent for one of its developments.

The technology will help increase the charging speed of electric vehicles in the existing infrastructure and will be available to all market players thanks to open-source code.

The solution includes hardware and software “filling” that will allow the battery to analyze the power of the charging station in real-time and provide higher voltage levels without overheating.

StoreDot CEO Doron Myersdorf said the company intends to make the technology publicly available to “develop the electric vehicle market and achieve the goal of zero carbon emissions.”

StoreDot also stated that the company is “in an advanced stage of negotiations with many automakers” and still intends to begin mass production of batteries by 2024.
