Cybersecurity startups raised record investment

Cybersecurity remains a hot topic, and the recent hacker attack on the Colonial Pipeline has given new ground for discussion. Interest in cybersecurity has also grown as the world moves to a remote work format due to pandemic.

According to PitchBook, the first half of this year was a record for venture capital investment in cybersecurity startups, raising $ 9.9 billion from venture funds — almost the same amount as for the whole of 2020.

Out of the $ 9.9 billion invested in cybersecurity startups, the majority — $ 8.5 billion — was fuelled into late-venture companies.
